Metropolismania puts you in the yellow suit of your unnamed metropolis-maker working for a huge company who wants you to build cities and develop relationships with your town members who move in: think of it as the Sims and Sim City mixed together. I had this game when I was little and somewhere between moving it got misplaced, I'm glad to have come across another copy.

My preteen nieces were able to play it as well as I can, after some trial and error on their part. My 5 year old daughter tried to play and it is difficult for her, but my 8 year old niece could play it a little better. The game is basically for 10+ years of age because of the need to be able to prioritize and strategize your tasks. I bought this game a few years ago and it got damaged by younger children playing with it and was so happy to be able to find another one to buy so I can continue where I left off. You have to try to figure out a way to make everyone happy at the same time as well as meet your other goals, ie.build so many of some buildings or have so many residents in your city. They all want different things and some of them don't want what the others do. The stategy is to build the buildings and houses that the residents of the town you are managing want. It is still a very fun and relatively easy game to play. The irritating part of the game is the NPC's that seem to want "everything NOW". You get to build a city and try to make everyone happy. After earning the trust of the townsfolk, the player can make introductions and encourage residents to foster their own relationships. Once the city's infrastructure begins to take shape, get on the cell phone and make some friends. Good city design can lead to more content citizens.

Walk the streets of the 3D Metropolismania, laying down plans for construction of new roads and buildings along the way.

Sure, there are e-mails and voice mails, faxes and text-messaging, but who actually takes time for a real conversation, face to face, on a personal level? Now the wisest rulers fear that this trend toward faceless, digitized conversation-by-proxy and away from honest, heartfelt exchange, may lead to the downfall of the human race.Īs an especially clever and outgoing individual, the player is drafted by these shrewd leaders to spark a renaissance of friendliness in a new town. What's the biggest problem with the Information Age? It may just be that nobody talks anymore. Instead of directing from the perspective of an ethereal, godlike overseer, however, Metropolismania players must build their worlds by hand, in person. Not only must the player design the layout of a new city, but also encourage a blossoming social life for its citizens.
